When it comes to Cyber Security, it can present a real headache to business owners, service managers and individuals alike – the first hurdle for most is the jargon and language is not understandable! Nevertheless, as accountants we know that businesses do need to take cyber security threats seriously and put in place effective controls to reduce the likelihood and impact of cyber attacks.
Scottish Enterprise are keen for small and medium enterprises (SME’s) to increase their awareness of cyber security issues and indeed promote security. They are currently running a scheme providing funding of up to £1,000 per business to work with an IT service provider to increase cyber security and awareness and to become Cyber Essentials Certified (which is a requirement to bid for government contracts).
Although this scheme is coming to an end in March for most SME’s, it should remain open for charitable organisations, and if you’re quick your application for the voucher can be submitted prior to the deadline, for completion shortly after.
