When first announced the rules for eligibility were as below, but the scheme has now been expanded to include some self caterers and caravan park operators (see below):
For ratepayers of businesses located in a non-domestic property on 17 March that are:
- in receipt of the Small Business Bonus Scheme (SBBS); or
- in receipt of Rural Relief; or
- eligible for SBBS but in receipt of Nursery Relief or Disabled Relief
Available to ratepayers of businesses in the Retail, Hospitality, and Leisure sectors operating in premises on 17 March with a rateable value of £18,001 to £50,999.
Applications should be e:mailed.
OIC and TCEC both say they will "aim to make payment within 10 working days from receipt of a fully completed application".
The deadline for applications is 31 March 2021.
It has now (31 March) been confirmed that self-catering accommodation and caravan businesses will also be eligible for both the one-off £10,000 grant for small businesses and the £25,000 grant for businesses in the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure sectors where this is the primary source of earned income and the property is let for 140 days or more in 2019/20.
The Association of Scotland's Self Caterers is lobbying for further improvements in the scheme since, even with the above changes, many self-caterers will still be unable to access the grants.
As of 15 April 2020, Scottish businesses operating multiple properties can access additional funding; the grant is no longer restricted to one per business; grants are available at 75% of the full rate on additional qualifying properties.
