About me – Originally from Sunderland, I moved to Huddersfield when I was 19, where I graduated with a degree in Accounting and Finance before commencing my training as a Chartered Accountant. I moved to Scott-Moncrieff in Edinburgh in 1989 where I completed my training. I set up my own accountancy practice in 1997 and thoroughly enjoyed working with a number of very interesting clients before joining forces with Scholes in January 2019. Since that time we have all been working to support our SME clients through what has been, for many, an incredibly challenging time.
What I do at Scholes – Based in the Edinburgh office, I am focussed on providing a personal service to our clients. My specialist areas are the preparation of timely, periodical management accounts on-site, annual statutory accounts production and related corporate and personal tax planning. I believe that good quality management accounts, monthly or quarterly are key to the success of a business and I effectively act as an in-house financial accountant for businesses who aren’t quite ready to take the step of employing a full time financial controller.
More about me – I love the outdoors and especially fell walking in The Lake District or The Highlands when I get the chance. I am married to Federica and we have two children, Sean and Megan. Federica loves dancing and I have attempted to teach my “two left feet” to move around the dance floor with mixed success; but good fun none the less!
