Executive

About me - I joined the Kirkwall office in January 2026 as a trainee bookkeeper. Most of my working life has been business administration supporting SME’s, prior to which I spent more than a decade as a producer at the BBC. After taking life at a slower pace for a while I decided it was time for a new challenge so I set out to learn how to balance the books. I am a little older than the average trainee and enjoying the chance for a later life career resurgence.
What I do at Scholes - I work with the bookkeeping team processing financial transactions for VAT returns. I am also studying for my AAT Bookkeeping Qualifications.
More about me - I find it fascinating that the principles of bookkeeping are no different to when a Florentine merchant pulled a ledger off the shelf to record a transaction. I am also interested in how tech and AI are transforming how bookkeepers work. My degree is in Law from SOAS London University. Outside work I enjoy cooking, walking dogs and keeping up with what’s going on in the world of tennis.
